Biodynamic Craniosacral for Babies & Parents

New parenthood brings immense joy, but also unique challenges. Many parents seek support for their babies with common concerns such as sleep difficulties, feeding issues, trouble settling, colic, and excessive crying. Craniosacral therapy offers a gentle, non-invasive approach to help address these issues, promoting comfort and well-being for your little one.

How craniosacral therapy can help your baby

Craniosacral therapy for babies involves very light, respectful touch to support their innate healing processes. Benefits parents often observe include:

  • Relaxation and settling: Helping a baby soften and unwind.
  • More restful sleep: Supporting relaxation around sleep and settling.
  • Comfort and regulation: Offering gentle support to a baby's developing nervous system.
  • After birth support: Providing a quiet space to rest and recover from the experience of birth.
  • Feeding support: Creating an opportunity for a baby to relax around feeding, while recognising that feeding difficulties may also need assessment by a midwife, health visitor or other specialist.
  • Processing birth experiences: Particularly after a long, assisted or challenging birth.
  • Connection and bonding: Supporting the relationship between baby and parent.
  • Supporting natural development: Allowing babies time and space to follow their own innate patterns of movement and settling.

Having a baby can be an enormous physical and emotional transition. Craniosacral therapy can offer parents a rare opportunity to pause, receive care and reconnect.

My approach to a baby and parent Craniosacral Session

My approach is shaped by more than 10 years of experience supporting women, babies and families through pregnancy, birth and the early postnatal period.

Working as a community midwife gave me a deep understanding of the physical, emotional and relational changes that happen around birth and of how different every baby, birth and family can be.

I bring this experience into my craniosacral work, combining my knowledge of birth and early parenthood with a gentle, biodynamic approach that listens closely to each baby's individual needs. I don't believe babies need to be 'fixed'. Instead, I offer a calm, nurturing space where they can slow down, settle and be met exactly as they are. Through subtle, respectful touch, I follow the baby's cues rather than imposing a particular technique or outcome.

I also recognise that a baby's wellbeing is deeply connected to the wellbeing of their parent & will often treat both mother & baby together.

What to expect during a treatment session

Coming for craniosacral therapy with your baby should feel like a calm and supportive experience for both of you. I work very gently, following your baby's rather than expecting them to fit into a particular treatment routine. Your baby may be held, lie comfortably on a treatment table, feed, move around or simply be cuddled by you. There is no need for them to stay still.

I use light, listening touch and take time to notice how your baby is responding. If they become unsettled, need a feed or want to be close to you, we simply pause and respond to what they are communicating.

There is plenty of time for you to talk too. I welcome hearing about your pregnancy, birth and how things have been since your baby's arrival. My experience as a midwife means I understand how important ,and sometimes overwhelming,  this transition can be. Some babies become deeply relaxed and sleepy during a session, while others may stretch, wriggle, yawn, or make sounds.
